Who We Are
Our History
Divya Jyoti Disabled Development Society was founded in 1997 by Indian social workers who recognized the need for a local organization dedicated to offer a better life to individual with mental disabilities. Since then, we have grown into a thriving nonprofit, changing lives of individuals each day.
Our Staff
Our team is made up of dedicated individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we serve. From case managers to outreach workers, we work together to provide comprehensive support to our clients.
What We Do
Day Care and Vocational Training for the Mentally Disabled
We empower people with disabilities to help them to restore acceptance, self-respect and dignity. Every activity aims at sharing and transmitting specific knowledge required for everyday life. We take into consideration the student's specific needs and abilities.
Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR)
Our team is made up of dedicated professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we serve. From case managers to outreach workers, we work together to provide comprehensive support to our clients.
Education
Our school program and activity classes provide a comprehensive quality education in Hindi and English to the children beneficiaries of the project. This is fundamental for their development and for getting future opportunities.
We also train adult people and provide literacy classes which aids in improving their life.
Healthcare
The Healthcare Program offer comprehensive attention to people who are underprivaleged. In India, access to healthcare is challenging for people with limited resources. Our Healthcare Program provides free medical facilities through our dispensary (consultation with a family doctor, free medicines and support with outside treatment such as diagnostic tests, visits to specialists, and hospitalization).
Nutrition
A good health and a proper nutrition are two fundamental aspects of development of the people. Our nutritional program guarantees a balanced and healthy food to all our children in the Education Program. Lunch is provided everyday with necessary nutrients for their growth.
Woman Empowerment
We work to empower the women from the slums through different projects which positively impacts in the development of their family. The aim is to improve their life conditions, increase their self-esteem and strengthen their role in the society and economy.
